The joy of God over His People

1) The greatness of the joy of God over His people, described:
Zep 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

2) The joy of God over His people, on account of their:
2a) Repentance:
Lu 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Lu 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
2b) Faith:
Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
2c) Fear of him:
Ps 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
2d) Praying to him:
Pr 15:8 ¶ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
2e) Hope in his mercy:
Ps 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
2f) Meekness:
Ps 149:4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.
2g) Uprightness:
1Ch 29:17 I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
Pr 11:20 ¶ They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

3) The joy of God over His people leads Him to:
3a) Prosper them:
De 30:9 And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:
3b) Do them good:
De 28:63 And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
Jer 32:41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
3c) Deliver them:
2Sa 22:20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
3d) Comfort them:
Isa 65:19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
3e) Give them the inheritance:
Nu 14:8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

4) The joy of God over his people, illustrated:
Isa 62:5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.
Lu 15:23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
Lu 15:24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

5) The joy of God over his people, exemplified:
5a) Solomon:
1Ki 10:9 Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.
