The Jews - part 2/3
37) The Jews, obliged to unite against
enemies:
Nu 32:20 And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if
ye will go armed before the LORD to war,
Nu 32:21 And will go all of you
armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from
before him,
Nu 32:22 And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward
ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this
land shall be your possession before the LORD.
Jud 19:29 And when he was come
into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided
her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all
the coasts of Israel.
Jud 20:1 ¶ Then all the children of Israel went out,
and the congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan even to
Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, unto the LORD in Mizpeh.
Jud 20:2 And the
chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented
themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen
that drew sword.
Jud 20:3 (Now the children of Benjamin heard that the
children of Israel were gone up to Mizpeh.) Then said the children of Israel,
Tell us, how was this wickedness?
Jud 20:4 And the Levite, the husband
of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that
belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
Jud 20:5 And the
men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night,
and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she
is dead.
Jud 20:6 And I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent
her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel: for they have
committed lewdness and folly in Israel.
Jud 20:7 Behold, ye are all
children of Israel; give here your advice and counsel.
Jud 20:8 And all the
people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent,
neither will we any of us turn into his house.
Jud 20:9 But now this
shall be the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up by
lot against it;
Jud 20:10 And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout
all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of
ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come
to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in
Israel.
Jud 20:11 So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city,
knit together as one man.
Jud 20:12 ¶ And the tribes of Israel sent men
through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that
is done among you?
Jud 20:13 Now therefore deliver us the men, the
children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death,
and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to
the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
Jud 20:14 But the
children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah,
to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
Jud 20:15 And the
children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six
thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were
numbered seven hundred chosen men.
Jud 20:16 Among all this people there
were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an
hair breadth, and not miss.
Jud 20:17 And the men of Israel, beside
Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these
were men of war.
Jud 20:18 ¶ And the children of Israel arose, and
went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us
shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD
said, Judah shall go up first.
Jud 20:19 And the children of Israel
rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.
Jud 20:20 And the men of
Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves
in array to fight against them at Gibeah.
Jud 20:21 And the children of
Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the
Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.
Jud 20:22 And the people the
men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the
place where they put themselves in array the first day.
Jud 20:23 (And the
children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked
counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children
of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.)
Jud 20:24 And
the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second
day.
Jud 20:25 And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second
day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen
thousand men; all these drew the sword.
Jud 20:26 ¶ Then all the children of
Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept,
and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt
offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
Jud 20:27 And the children of
Israel enquired of the LORD, (for the ark of the covenant of God was
there in those days,
Jud 20:28 And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of
Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to
battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the
LORD said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.
Jud
20:29 And Israel set liers in wait round about Gibeah.
Jud 20:30 And the
children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day,
and put themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.
Jud 20:31 And
the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away
from the city; and they began to smite of the people, and kill, as at
other times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God, and the
other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
Jud 20:32 And the
children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the
first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city
unto the highways.
Jud 20:33 And all the men of Israel rose up out of their
place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar: and the liers in wait of Israel
came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.
Jud
20:34 And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel,
and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near
them.
Jud 20:35 And the LORD smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children
of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an
hundred men: all these drew the sword.
Jud 20:36 So the children of Benjamin
saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites,
because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside
Gibeah.
Jud 20:37 And the liers in wait hasted, and rushed upon Gibeah; and
the liers in wait drew themselves along, and smote all the city with the
edge of the sword.
Jud 20:38 Now there was an appointed sign between the men
of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke
rise up out of the city.
Jud 20:39 And when the men of Israel retired in the
battle, Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about
thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as
in the first battle.
Jud 20:40 But when the flame began to arise up
out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and,
behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven.
Jud 20:41 And when the
men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that
evil was come upon them.
Jud 20:42 Therefore they turned their backs
before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook
them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst
of them.
Jud 20:43 Thus they inclosed the Benjamites round about,
and chased them, and trode them down with ease over against Gibeah
toward the sunrising.
Jud 20:44 And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand
men; all these were men of valour.
Jud 20:45 And they turned and fled
toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the
highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two
thousand men of them.
Jud 20:46 So that all which fell that day of Benjamin
were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men
of valour.
Jud 20:47 But six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness
unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.
Jud 20:48 And
the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them
with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast,
and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came
to.
1Sa 11:7 And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent
them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers,
saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be
done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came
out with one consent.
1Sa 11:8 And when he numbered them in Bezek, the
children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty
thousand.
38) The Jews, often distinguished in war:
Jud 7:19 So
Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of
the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the
watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in
their hands.
Jud 7:20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake
the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their
right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of
Gideon.
Jud 7:21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp:
and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.
Jud 7:22 And the three hundred
blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even
throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath,
and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.
Jud 7:23 ¶ And the men
of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and
out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.
1Sa 14:6 And Jonathan
said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the
garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for
there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.
1Sa 14:7
And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn
thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.
1Sa 14:8 Then
said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will
discover ourselves unto them.
1Sa 14:9 If they say thus unto us, Tarry until
we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto
them.
1Sa 14:10 But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up:
for the LORD hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign
unto us.
1Sa 14:11 And both of them discovered themselves unto the garrison
of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out
of the holes where they had hid themselves.
1Sa 14:12 And the men of the
garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we
will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after
me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.
1Sa 14:13 And
Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armourbearer after
him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armourbearer slew after him.
1Sa
17:32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy
servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
1Sa 17:33 And Saul said to
David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for
thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
Ne 4:16 ¶
And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants
wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the
shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all
the house of Judah.
Ne 4:17 They which builded on the wall, and they that
bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands
wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
Ne 4:18
For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so
builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
Ne 4:19 And I said
unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work
is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from
another.
Ne 4:20 In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the
trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.
Ne 4:21 So we
laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the
morning till the stars appeared.
Ne 4:22 Likewise at the same time said I
unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in
the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.
39) The
Jews, strengthened by God in war:
Le 26:7 And ye shall chase your
enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
Le 26:8 And five of you
shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight:
and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
Jos 5:13 ¶ And it came
to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and,
behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and
Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our
adversaries?
Jos 5:14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of
the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did
worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?
Jos 8:1 ¶
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the
people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand
the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:
Jos 8:2 And thou
shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the
spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves:
lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.
40) The Jews, under God's
special protection:
De 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the
waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as
the apple of his eye.
De 32:11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth
over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her
wings:
De 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath
are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before
thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
De 33:28 Israel then shall dwell in
safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and
wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.
De 33:29 Happy art thou, O
Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of
thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall
be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
Ps
105:13 When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to
another people;
Ps 105:14 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he
reproved kings for their sakes;
Ps 105:15 Saying, Touch not mine
anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
Ps 121:3 He will not suffer thy foot to
be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Ps 121:4 Behold, he that
keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Ps 121:5 The LORD is
thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
41)
Enemies of the Jews obliged to acknowledge them as divinely
protected:
Jos 2:9 And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath
given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the
inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
Jos 2:10 For we have heard how
the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt;
and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the
other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
Jos 2:11 And as
soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there
remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he
is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
Es 6:13 And Haman told
Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him.
Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of
the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not
prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.
42) The Jews,
prohibited from:
42a) Associating with others:
Ac 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye
know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company,
or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not
call any man common or unclean.
42b) Covenanting with others:
Ex
23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.
De 7:2 And
when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them,
and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew
mercy unto them:
42c) Marrying with others:
De 7:3 Neither shalt
thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son,
nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
Jos 23:12 Else if ye do in any
wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these
that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them,
and they to you:
42d) Following practices of others:
De 12:29 When
the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest
to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
De
12:30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that
they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods,
saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do
likewise.
De 12:31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every
abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for
even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their
gods.
De 18:9 ¶ When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those
nations.
De 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that
maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
De
18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a
necromancer.
De 18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination
unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive
them out from before thee.
De 18:13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy
God.
De 18:14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto
observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath
not suffered thee so to do.
43) The Jews despised
all strangers:
1Sa 17:36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and
this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the
armies of the living God.
Mt 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall
gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in
exchange for his soul?
Mt 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of
his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his
works.
Eph 2:11 ¶ Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past
Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the
Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
44) The Jews held no
intercourse with strangers:
Joh 4:9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto
him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of
Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
Ac 11:2 And when
Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended
with him,
Ac 11:3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat
with them.
45) The Jews, condemned for associating with other
nations:
Jud 2:1 ¶ And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to
Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto
the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my
covenant with you.
Jud 2:2 And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants
of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice:
why have ye done this?
Jud 2:3 Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them
out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their
gods shall be a snare unto you.
Jer 2:18 And now what hast thou to do in the
way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way
of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
46) The Jews, received
proselytes from other nations:
Ac 2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt,
and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and
proselytes,
Ex 12:44 But every man's servant that is bought for money, when
thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.
Ex 12:48 And when a
stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let
all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he
shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat
thereof.
47) Gentiles made one with the Jews under the
gospel:
Ac 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second
time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Ac 10:28 And
he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a
Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me
that I should not call any man common or unclean.
Ac 15:8 And God, which
knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he
did unto us;
Ac 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying
their hearts by faith.
Ga 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is
neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in
Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:14 ¶ For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and
hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments
contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man,
so making peace;
Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in
one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
48) All other
nations:
48a) Envied the Jews:
Ne 4:1 ¶ But it came to pass, that when
Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great
indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Isa 26:11 LORD, when thy hand is
lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for
their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour
them.
Eze 35:11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even
do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used
out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I
have judged thee.
48b) Hated the Jews:
Ps 44:10 Thou makest us to
turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
Eze
35:5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of
the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity,
in the time that their iniquity had an end:
48c) Oppressed
the Jews:
Ex 3:9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel
is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians
oppress them.
Jud 2:18 And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD
was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the
days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason
of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
Jud 4:3 And the children of
Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty
years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
48d) Persecuted the
Jews:
La 1:3 Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and
because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest:
all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.
La 5:5 Our necks
are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.
48e)
Rejoiced at calamities of the Jews:
Ps 44:13 Thou makest us a reproach to
our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
Ps
44:14 Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the
people.
Ps 80:5 Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them
tears to drink in great measure.
Ps 80:6 Thou makest us a strife unto our
neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.
Eze 36:4 Therefore, ye
mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to
the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the
desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and
derision to the residue of the heathen that are round
about;
49) None hated or oppressed the Jews with
impunity:
Ps 137:8 O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy
shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.
Ps 137:9
Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the
stones.
Eze 25:15 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt
by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy
it for the old hatred;
Eze 25:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off
the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.
Eze 35:6 Therefore,
as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood
shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue
thee.
Ob 1:10 ¶ For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall
cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
Ob 1:11 In the day that thou
stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive
his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem,
even thou wast as one of them.
Ob 1:12 But thou shouldest not have
looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither
shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their
destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of
distress.
Ob 1:13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people
in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their
affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their
substance in the day of their calamity;
Ob 1:14 Neither shouldest thou have
stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither
shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of
distress.
Ob 1:15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the
heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return
upon thine own head.
Ob 1:16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain,
so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and
they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not
been.
50) Christ:
50a) Promised to the Jews:
Ge 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart
from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto

but fear:

down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!
