1) The Church belongs to God:
1Ti 3:15 But
if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in
the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground
of the truth.
2) The Church, the body of Christ:
Eph 1:23 Which
is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Col 1:24 Who now
rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the
afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the
church:
3) Christ, the foundation-stone of the Church:
1Co 3:11
¶ For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ.
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
1Pe 2:4 ¶
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but
chosen of God, and precious,
1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are
built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual
sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
4) Christ, the head of
the Church:
Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and
gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 5:23
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the
church: and he is the saviour of the body.
5) The Church, loved by
Christ:
So 7:10 ¶ I am my beloved's, and his desire is
toward me.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the
church, and gave himself for it;
6) The Church, purchased by the blood
of Christ:
Ac 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the
flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church
of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love
your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for
it;
Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood
he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption
for us.
7) The Church, sanctified and cleansed by
Christ:
1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are
sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the
Spirit of our God.
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the
washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a
glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it
should be holy and without blemish.
8) The Church, subject to
Christ:
Ro 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law
by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him
who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Eph
5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives
be to their own husbands in every thing.
9) The Church, the
object of the grace of God:
Isa 27:3 I the LORD do keep it; I will water
it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
2Co
8:1 ¶ Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the
churches of Macedonia;
10) The Church displays the wisdom of
God:
Eph 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers
in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of
God,
11) The Church shows forth the praises of God:
Isa 60:6
The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah;
all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they
shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.
12) God defends the
Church:
Ps 89:18 For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of
Israel is our king.
Isa 4:5 And the LORD will create upon every
dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day,
and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall
be a defence.
Isa 49:25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the
mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for
I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy
children.
Mt 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon
this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it.
13) God provides ministers for the Church:
Jer 3:15
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with
knowledge and understanding.
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some,
prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For
the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of
the body of Christ:
14) Glory to be ascribed to God by the
Church:
Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus
throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
15) The Church,
elect:
1Pe 5:13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together
with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
16)
The Church, glorious:
Ps 45:13 The king's daughter is all glorious
within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
Eph 5:27 That he might
present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any
such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
17) The
Church, clothed in righteousness:
Re 19:8 And to her was granted that she
should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the
righteousness of saints.
18) Believers continually added to the Church
by the Lord:
Ac 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither
wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Ac 5:14 And believers were
the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
Ac 11:24 For
he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was
added unto the Lord.
19) Unity of the Church:
Ro 12:5 So we,
being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of
another.
1Co 10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one
body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
1Co 12:12 ¶ For as the body
is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many,
are one body: so also is Christ.
Ga 3:28 There is neither Jew nor
Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye
are all one in Christ Jesus.
20) Saints baptised into the Church by
one Spirit:
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one
body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free;
and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
21) Ministers
commanded to feed the Church:
Ac 20:28 Take heed therefore unto
yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you
overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own
blood.
22) The Church is edified by the word:
1Co 14:4 He that
speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth
edifieth the church.
1Co 14:13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an
unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
Eph 4:15 But speaking the
truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head,
even Christ:
Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together
and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual
working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the
edifying of itself in love.
23) The wicked persecute the
Church:
Ac 8:1 ¶ And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time
there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and
they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria,
except the apostles.
Ac 8:2 And devout men carried Stephen to his
burial, and made great lamentation over him.
Ac 8:3 As for Saul, he made
havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women
committed them to prison.
1Th 2:14 For ye, brethren, became followers
of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have
suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the
Jews:
1Th 2:15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and
have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all
men:
24) The Church, not to be despised:
1Co 11:22 What? have
ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame
them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I
praise you not.
25) Defiling of the Church will be
punished:
1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God
destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye
are.
26) Extent of the Church predicted:
Isa 2:2 And it shall
come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house
shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the
hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
Eze 17:22 ¶ Thus saith the Lord
GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set
it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and
will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
Eze 17:23 In the
mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth
boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl
of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
Eze
17:24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought
down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and
have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done
it.
Da 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands,
which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake
them to pieces.
Da 2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver,
and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer
threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for
them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the
whole earth.
Hab 2:14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the
glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
