The character of Christ
1) The character of Christ is
altogether lovely:
So 5:16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he
is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my
friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.
2) Christ is Holy:
Lu 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,
and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy
thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Ac 4:27 For
of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod,
and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered
together,
Re 3:7 ¶ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write;
These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of
David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man
openeth;
3) Christ is righteous:
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the
travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my
righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Heb 1:9
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even
thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy
fellows.
4) Christ is good:
Mt 19:16 ¶ And, behold, one came
and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have
eternal life?
5) Christ is faithful:
Isa 11:5 And righteousness
shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his
reins.
1Th 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do
it.
6) Christ is true:
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only
begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Joh 7:18 He that speaketh
of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him,
the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
1Jo 5:20 And we know that
the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him
that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus
Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
7) Christ is
just:
Zec 9:9 ¶ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of
Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having
salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an
ass.
Joh 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my
judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father
which hath sent me.
Ac 22:14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen
thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest
hear the voice of his mouth.
8) Christ is guileless:

And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because
he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
1Pe 2:22
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
9) Christ is
sinless:
Joh 8:46 ¶ Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the
truth, why do ye not believe me?
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be
sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in
him.
10) Christ is spotless:
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious
blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
11)
Christ is innocent:
Mt 27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed
the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to
that.
12) Christ is harmless:
Heb 7:26 For such an high
priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from
sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
13) Christ resisted
temptation:
Mt 4:1 ¶ Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the
wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Mt 4:2 And when he had fasted forty
days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
Mt 4:3 And when the
tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these
stones be made bread.
Mt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God.
Mt 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and
setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
Mt 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou
be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his
angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee
up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Mt 4:7 Jesus said
unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Mt 4:8
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him
all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Mt 4:9 And saith unto
him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship
me.
Mt 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is
written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou
serve.
14) Christ is obedient to God the Father:
Ps 40:8 I
delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Joh
4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and
to finish his work.
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in
my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his
love.
15) Christ is zealous:
Lu 2:49 And he said unto them, How
is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's
business?
Joh 2:17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal
of thine house hath eaten me up.
Joh 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the
Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please
him.
16) Christ is meek:

afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his
mouth.
Zec 9:9 ¶ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of
Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having
salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an
ass.
Mt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly
in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
17) Christ is lowly
in heart:
Mt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek
and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
18) Christ

Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made
like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high
priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins
of the people.
19) Christ is patient:
Isa 53:7 He was
oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a
lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth
not his mouth.
Mt 27:14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that
the governor marvelled greatly.
20) Christ is

1Ti 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in
me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them
which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
21) Christ
is compassionate:

and shall gently lead those that are with young.

he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were
taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with
devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he
healed them.
Ac 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost
and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed
of the devil; for God was with him.
23) Christ is loving:

own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
Joh 15:13 Greater
love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends.
24) Christ is self-denying:
Mt 8:20 And Jesus saith
unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but
the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
2Co 8:9 For ye know the
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he
became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
25) Christ is
humble:
Lu 22:27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat,
or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as
he that serveth.
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled
himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the
cross.

8:29 ¶ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed
to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many
brethren.
