then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

hand.

the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Am 3:2 You only have I known
of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your
iniquities.

so do to Jerusalem and her idols?
2d) Rejection of the law of
God:
1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and
stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the
word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Ho 4:6 ¶
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected
knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing
thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Ho
4:7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I
change their glory into shame.
Ho 4:8 They eat up the sin of my people, and

shall be damned.

thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed
not?
Heb 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of
unbelief.
Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them:
but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them
that heard it.
2i) Covetousness:

iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was
wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.

that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come,
and the measure of thy covetousness.

know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of
Jacob.
Jer 30:16 Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and
all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that
spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a
prey.

congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress
them.

of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword;
their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of
them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your
synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

things shall come upon this generation.

deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time

iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of
those things is death.

is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.

recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

your enemies shall eat it.

enemies.
7f) Fear:
Le 26:36 And upon them that are left
alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of
their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall
flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.

which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you,

world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Ro 5:14 Nevertheless
death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the
similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to
come.
Ro 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if
through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the
gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto
many.
Ro 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the
gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift
is of many offences unto justification.
Ro 5:17 For if by one man's
offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace
and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus
Christ.)

blackness of darkness for ever.

among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with
everlasting burnings?

Joh 3:36 He that
believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son
shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
9n) Wine of the
wrath of God:
Re 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of
God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he
shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels,
and in the presence of the Lamb:
9o) Torment with fire:
Re 14:10

the Lamb:

his name.
9q) The righteousness of God requires:
2Th 1:6 Seeing
it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that
trouble you;

Ps 35:8 Let
destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch
himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
Ps 64:7 ¶ But God shall
shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
Pr 29:1 ¶
He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be
destroyed, and that without remedy.
Lu 12:20 But God said unto him,
Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose
shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
1Th 5:3 For when they shall
say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon
a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
10) The
punishment of the wicked shall be:
10a) According to their deeds:
Mt 16:27 For the Son of man shall
come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every
man according to his works.
Ro 2:6 Who will render to every man according to
his deeds:
Ro 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth
evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
2Co 5:10 For we must all
appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things
done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it
be good or bad.
10b) According to the knowledge possessed by
them:
Lu 12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared
not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many
stripes.
Lu 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy
of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is
given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of
him they will ask the more.
10c) Increased by neglect of
privileges:
Mt 11:21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida!
for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and
Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
Mt 11:22 But
I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of
judgment, than for you.
Mt 11:23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto
heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been
done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this
day.
Mt 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the
land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
Lu 10:13 Woe unto thee,
Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in
Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago
repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
Lu 10:14 But it shall be more
tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
Lu 10:15 And
thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to
hell.
10d) Without mitigation:

eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his
bosom.
Lu 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my
tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Lu 16:25 But Abraham said, Son,
remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise
Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Lu
16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so
that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to
us, that would come from thence.
10e) Accompanied by
remorse:
Isa 66:24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of
the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither
shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all
flesh.
Mr 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not
quenched.
11) No combination avails against the punishment
of the wicked:
Pr 11:21 ¶ Though hand join in hand, the
wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be
delivered.
12) Deferred punishment of the wicked emboldens them in
sin:
Ec 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed
speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do
evil.
13) The punishment of the wicked should be a warning to
others:
Nu 26:10 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up
together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two
hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
1Co 10:6 ¶ Now these things
were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they
also lusted.
1Co 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them;
as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to
play.
1Co 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed,
and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1Co 10:9 Neither let us tempt
Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
1Co
10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of
the destroyer.
1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for
ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the
world are come.
Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about
them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after
strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal
fire.
14) The punishment of the wicked consummated at the day of
judgment:
Mt 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all
the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mt
25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous
into life eternal.
Ro 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart
treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the
righteous judgment of God;
Ro 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the
secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
2Pe 2:9 The Lord
knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust
unto the day of judgment to be punished:Return to Christian
