Sanctification
1) Sanctification is separation to the
service of God:
Ps 4:3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is
godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
2Co 6:17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and
touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Sanctification effected by:
2a) God:
Eze 37:28 And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do
sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
1Th 5:23 ¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray
God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:1 ¶ Jude, the servant of Jesus
Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and
preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
2b) Christ:
Heb 2:11
For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one:
for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Heb 13:12 Wherefore
Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered
without the gate.
2c) The Holy Spirit:
Ro 15:16 That I should be
the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God,
that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by
the Holy Ghost.
1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but
ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by
the Spirit of our God.
3) Sanctification in
Christ:
1Co 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that
are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in
every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and
ours:
4) Sanctification through the atonement of
Christ:
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the
offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 13:12
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood,
suffered without the gate.
5) Sanctification through the word of
God:
Joh 17:17 ¶ Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Joh 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be
sanctified through the truth.
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it
with the washing of water by the word,
6) Christ made
sanctification of God, to us:
1Co 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus,
who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption:
7) Saints elected to salvation through
sanctification:
2Th 2:13 ¶ But we are bound to give thanks alway to God
for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning
chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the
truth:
1Pe 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,
through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood
of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

All saints are in a state of sanctification:
Ac 20:32 And now, brethren,
I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you
up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
Ac
26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light,
and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness
of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

9) The Church made glorious by
sanctification:
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the
washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a
glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it
should be holy and without blemish.
10) Sanctification should
lead to:
10a) Mortification of sin:
1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God,
even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1Th 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in
sanctification and honour;
10b) Holiness:
Ro 6:22 But now being
made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto
holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Eph 5:7 Be not ye therefore
partakers with them.
Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are
ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Eph 5:9 (For the fruit
of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and
truth;)
11) Offering up of saints acceptable through
sanctification:
Ro 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to
the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the
Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy
Ghost.
12) Saints fitted for the service of God by
sanctification:
2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he
shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use,
and prepared unto every good work.
13) God wills all
saints to have sanctification:
1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God,
even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from
fornication:
14) MINISTERS
14a) Set apart to God's service by sanctification:
Jer 1:5 Before I
formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the
womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the
nations.
14b) Should pray that their people may enjoy complete
sanctification:
1Th 5:23 ¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;
and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless
unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
14c) Should exhort their people
to walk in sanctification:
1Th 4:1 ¶ Furthermore then we beseech you,
brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of
us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and
more.
1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification,
that ye should abstain from fornication:
15) None
can inherit the kingdom of God without sanctification:
1Co 6:9 ¶ Know ye
not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived:
neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers
of themselves with mankind,
1Co 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor
drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

16) Sanctification typified:
Ge 2:3
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had
rested from all his work which God created and made.
Ex 13:2 Sanctify unto
me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel,
both of man and of beast: it is mine.
Ex 19:14 And Moses went
down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed
their clothes.
Ex 40:9 And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the
tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the
vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.
Ex 40:10 And thou shalt anoint the
altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it
shall be an altar most holy.
Ex 40:11 And thou shalt anoint the laver and
his foot, and sanctify it.
Ex 40:12 And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons
unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.
Ex 40:13 And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him,
and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.
Ex
40:14 And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats:
Ex 40:15
And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may
minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an
everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.
Le 27:14 ¶ And when a
man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest
shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it,
so shall it stand.
Le 27:15 And if he that sanctified it will redeem his
house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation
unto it, and it shall be his.
Le 27:16 And if a man shall sanctify unto the
LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be
according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at
fifty shekels of silver.
