The Broad Way
"Broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat" (Matthew 7:13). This is the road we all start out on when we are born . We do not become sinners by doing bad things, we do bad things because we are born sinners. Sin is a genetic inheritance derived from the first man Adam which gives every one of us a bent away from God. " Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12) Sin is also a personal responsibility . "But every one shall die for his own iniquity:" (Jeremiah 31:30)
Sin is what separates us from God and as we sinners from birth, we are born separated from God and must be born again spiritually to be connected to Him . The remedy for sin that God has provided is the death on the cross of His Son Jesus Christ that His love and pardon may be extended to sinners without compromising His righteousness. Our responsibility is to acknowledge that we are sinners and to personally accept Christ's work on the cross as the only remedy. This is what we do when we turn from the Broad Way and enter through the door (Christ) that leads to life. " If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:8-10)
