The Judgment Seat of Christ
When we get to the end of the Narrow Way and arrive in heaven certain things will happen. One of the first will be an assessment of service for Christ. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5:10)
What the Christian does on earth will have its reward in heaven. The question of sin will not be raised; that was dealt with at Calvary. The question of salvation will not be an issue; once saved then saved forever. The issue is that of reward for work done. "Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire." (1 Corinthians 3:13-15) This is what Paul was writing about as he approached the end of his life on earth. "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."(2 Timothy 4:6-8)Where will you spend eternity?
