The Closed Door

On the left of the chart there is an open door.  This illustrates the door of salvation open to all and open today.  But it will not always be open.   The present day of grace when all may be saved by simple faith in Christ will not go on and on for ever.  There is coming a day when the door will be closed.

In the days of Noah  God said  " My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." (Genesis 6:3).   God warned of the judgement to come for another 120 years, but there came the day when the door of the ark was closed and a day of judgement commenced.

Nearly 2,000 years ago the Lord Jesus said - "Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.   When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:"  (Luke 13:24,25). The strait gate (door of salvation) is still open, but not forever.  Somewhere, sometime, the door of salvation will close for each one of us, either at death, or at the Lord's coming again for His people.

For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."  (2 Corinthians 6:2)

Where will you spend eternity?
